Journey to Freedom
I can honestly say that I'm finally at a place in my life where I'm excited to be living and walking in my purpose. It took time to get to this place, but I'm here and loving every bit of it. I've blogged about numerous things, but I've never shared my deepest, darkest, and loneliest moments and how I overcame and began walking in FREEDOM. Freedom is no easy journey to embark and it required letting go of everything I thought I needed in order to embrace and receive everything that was promised to me according to the word of God.
I was on a long, tiring journey due to being chained and locked up by fear, inadequacy, comparison, and a negative mindset. If you just take a moment and imagine a battered woman in solitary confinement in a dark prison cell, that was me in the spirit. My outer appearance seemed as if everything was together, but in no way did I have it together at all. In fact, I was completely damaged, broken, bitter, wounded, and just going through the motions of life.
The worst part is I was the woman attending church every Sunday, the choir leader, the social media evangelist, the one leading the prayer line, the one hosting the ministry events, the woman people looked up too, but I was literally dying inside. It was so easy to make my life seem as if it was perfect or that I had it all together. But it eventually became draining.
I had to sit down and ask myself these questions. What good is it to preach the good news to the world, if I'm not even walking in the freedom God has promised me? What good is it to be known if the life I'm claiming to live is a lie? What good is it if my ministry is based on proving a point to people instead of just simply glorifying God in all I do?
So I answered these questions and came to the conclusion that I wasn't walking in FREEDOM because my relationship with Christ was based on an image I was creating for the world to see. Everything changed once I stopped looking to the approval of people and seeking followers. I began to learn that living for Christ was more than just having a huge platform and people knowing my name and having a large following. A Christ centered life had to become my lifestyle whether the lights are on or off.
"For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ." Galatians 1:10 English Standard Version
As I share with you, I want you to be encouraged to walk in FREEDOM. FREEDOM with Christ is not about a platform, how many church services you attend in a week, how many people you pray for, how many bible stories you know or what you portray yourself to be. FREEDOM is walking with Christ and Christ ALIVE in you!
"Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover up for evil; live as servants of God." 1 Peter 2:16
